Immaculate Conception Candle Shrine
The Immaculate Conception Candle Shrine faces the Lourdes Grotto, a replica of the Marian apparition site in France.
In 1960, the Marian Fathers built a replica of the Grotto at Lourdes, France, where Our Lady appeared to St. Bernadette and declared, “I am the Immaculate Conception.”
Opposite our Lourdes Grotto is the Immaculate Conception Candle Shrine. Its alcoves illustrate the Church’s teaching on Purgatory, especially the need to pray for our deceased loved ones. The two end mosaics depict St. Stanislaus Papczynski’s and St. Faustina’s experiences in Purgatory, and the center mosaic depicts Christ drawing souls into the heavenly glory of the Most Holy Trinity.
Your memorial inscription will be hand cut in a Dakota granite plaque and set into the wall of the Immaculate Conception Candle Shrine. Different size plaques are available to honor a loved one, living, or deceased.
Spiritual Benefits: You and those you entrust to our prayers will be remembered twice daily at the National Shrine of The Divine Mercy — in the Holy Mass and during the Hour of Great Mercy — including in a Holy Mass on Dec. 8, the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception.
